Walmex Outperforms U.S. Parent Company Wal-Mart In September Quarter 2015

October 13, 2015: 12:00 AM EST
Wal-Mart de Mexico reported same-store sales grew 7 percent for the quarter ending September 2015, compared with the same period in 2014. Walmex’s results for the quarter drove the company’s shares 31 percent higher in 2015, recovering from the 40 percent fall caused by the 2012 bribery scandal in Mexico. In contrast, parent company Wal-Mart Stores Inc. saw its stock falling 22 percent in 2015, with same-store sales growing slightly at 1.5 percent despite efforts to cut costs and improve revenue performance.
