Wal-Mart Closes Stores, Lays Off Workers In Brazil

February 10, 2017: 12:00 AM EST
Wal-Mart closed five stores in Brazil, as part of the US retailer’s downsizing efforts in the country. Affecting the Nacional and Todo Dia business units, the store closures came at the same time the company laid off employees from its commercial and administrative departments. Wal-Mart is expected to shut down more supermarkets in the country in 2017.
