UK Average Household Discretionary Income Rose In August 2015, Asda Report Shows

In the UK, the average household saw its weekly discretionary income rose by £18 to £191 in August 2015, according to the latest Asda Income Tracker report. With employment growth recovering, the country’s unemployment rate dropped back to 5.5 percent in the quarter ending July. Data revealed, however, that low level of inflation and faster wage growth were the main drivers in household spending power. Compared with the same period in 2014, the average household discretionary incomes rose 10.7 percent, representing the 23rd consecutive month of annual growth in income.
