Thanksgiving And Black Friday Retail Sales Decline Slightly; Online Sales Soar

Retail sales on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday 2014 fell 0.5 percent to $12.29 billion from the $12.35 billion in the previous year, according to estimates by market research firm ShopperTrak. In contrast, online sales during Thanksgiving and Black Friday reached $1.33 billion and $2.4 billion, rising 25 percent and 24 percent from the previous year, respectively, according to data from Adobe Systems Inc. Online spending by consumers for November 1 to November 28 rose 14 percent to $32 billion, compared with 2013, Adobe said.
