Tesco Tests Discount Concept Aimed At Competing With Aldi And Lidl

December 29, 2014: 12:00 AM EST
Tesco is testing a discount format at some of its One Stop convenience stores, as part of its efforts to compete with discount retailers Aldi and Lidl. Reportedly an idea of One Stop chief executive Tony Reed, the discount initiative has been running for two months at the Solihull, Burntwood, and Manchester stores. Tesco saw declining sales and profits in 2014, thanks mainly to discounters Aldi and Lidl.
