Tesco Reports Same-Store Sales Growth For 19-Week Period Ending January 3, 2015

UK retailer Tesco said same-store sales rose 2.9 percent for the 19-week period ending January 3, 2015, with like-for-like sales growing 0.3 percent during the six-week Christmas period. All of the retailer's formats showed improvement, with grocery home shopping growing 12.9 percent; general merchandise, 22.2 percent; and clothing online, 52.4 percent. Tesco's express-retail stores showed 4.9 percent in sales growth, while general merchandise online rose 4.8 percent. Same-store sales across Europe also grew 1 percent during the six-week period.
