Tesco Plans To Reduce Workforce By 10,000 Jobs

February 14, 2015: 12:00 AM EST
Tesco is reportedly planning to reduce its total workforce by as much as 10,000 jobs, as part of chief executive Dave Lewis' turnaround scheme for UK's largest retailer. According to media reports, up to 6,000 job cuts will come from the company's head offices and 43 stores it plans to shut down. The rest of the jobs to be cut will come from the company's planned reorganization of operations, including the removal of a management layer from Tesco stores. Lewis said he plans to reduce head office operating costs by 30 percent and save £250 million in costs across the company.
