Tesco Could Have Done Better In Managing Black Friday Sales, UK Shoppers And Police Chiefs Say

November 28, 2014: 12:00 AM EST
Tesco PLC was criticized by shoppers and police chiefs for its handling of its Black Friday sales events. Police officers had to intervene at seven Tesco stores in the Greater Manchester area in northwest England due to Tesco's failure to control the crowd of bargain hunters. Chief constable Peter Fahy expressed his disappointment over the insufficient security staff on duty during the sales event. There were reports of several arrests and injuries from incidents described by police as “mini riot.”
