Target Tests Robotic Store Clerk In San Francisco

April 28, 2016: 12:00 AM EST
Target is testing a robot in one of its stores in San Francisco. Built by Simbe Robotics, the robot named Tally can move by itself around the store while checking for misplaced, mispriced, or low-stock products. In September 2015, Target partnered with startup incubator Techstars to invest in and mentor companies developing retail-related technologies. Other retailers, including Lowe’s subsidiary Orchard Supply Hardware and Best Buy, are also testing robots with retail applications.
