Target Posts Lower Adjusted EPS, Slightly Higher U.S. Sales In 3Q 2014

Target Corporation reported adjusted earnings per share declined 2.9 percent to $0.54 in the third quarter of 2014, compared with the same period in 2013. Comparable sales at its United States business grew 1.2 percent, better than the flat to 1 percent range forecast. US segment transactions fell 0.4 percent, 1 percent better compared with the first half of the year. Sales in Canada grew 43.8 percent, compared with the third quarter of the previous year. Also, for the third quarter 2014, the company paid dividends of $330 million, higher by 21.4 percent from the previous year.
