Supermarkets Post Strong Sales Growth In April Quarter 2016, Kantar Worldpanel Says

Supermarket sales in Ireland grew 3.8 percent in the 12-week period ending April 24, 2016, compared with the same period in the previous year, according to Kantar Worldpanel. SuperValu retained its dominant position in the market, accounting for 23 percent of consumer spend on groceries, with sales increasing 2.8 percent during the period. Tesco stays in second place, with 22.2 percent of the market and volume sales rising 2.7 percent. Dunnes Stores saw its sales growing 8.0 percent, while Lidl maintained its position as fastest-growing retailer, with 11.2 percent of the market.
