PriceSmart Continues Expanding In Latin American Markets

January 11, 2015: 12:00 AM EST
Retailer PriceSmart, which reported net revenue grew to $656 million for the first quarter of its fiscal year 2015, compared with the same period in the previous year, is expanding its operations in Latin America. Opening its first store in Panama in 1996, PriceSmart has been operating primarily in Latin America. With 36 warehouse clubs in the region, PriceSmart is the largest operator of warehouse membership clubs in the region. Its opening of warehouse clubs in Colombia highlighted the company's efforts to expand operations in the region. Challenges faced by the company include its dependence on economic conditions in Latin American countries, as well as currency fluctuations in the region.
