January 10, 2015: 12:00 AM EST
At present, online sales account for 4 percent, or about $25.6 billion, of total retail sales in Russia. By 2019, however, the country's online retail market is forecast to reach $68.8 billion in value, or a growth rate of 169 percent, according to Planet Retail. By that year, online sales will account for 8.4 percent of total retail sales in the country. Planet Retail's survey of 1,496 Russian shoppers revealed 53 percent of respondents said they connect to the Internet using their mobile phones; however, only 27 percent use them for online shopping. In comparison, 62 percent of UK shoppers use mobiles to shop online.
