Metro Plans To Split Into Two Independent Companies

Metro AG’s Management Board prepares to implement a demerger of the retail group into two independent and market-sector-focused companies. According to proposed demerger plans, Metro will become a Wholesale and Food Specialist group and a Consumer Electronics group. Part of the company’s reasons for planning a demerger include achieving an improved focus, faster decision-making processes, and improved flexibility and operational efficiency. According to the company, the proposed demerger is expected to be completed by the middle of 2017.
