Metro Group Sells Galeria Kaufhof Department Store Chain

Metro Group sold its department store chain business Galeria Kaufhof to the Canadian Hudson’s Bay Company. Valued at €2.825 billion, the transaction was completed on September 30, 2015, and covers all store locations in Germany and Belgium. Galeria Kaufhof has about 17,000 employees and 134 locations, generating sales of €3.1 billion in financial year 2013-2014.
