Lidl's Ad Spending Outpaces Those Of Rivals, Study Reveals

Discount retail chain Lidl accounted for 23.2 percent of supermarket advertising spend in the fourth quarter of 2015, according to the most recent Ad Tracker report from Checkout magazine by Nielsen. Data from the market research firm revealed Lidl’s ad spending jumped 45.4 percent compared with the same quarter of the previous year. Tesco accounted for 20 percent of supermarket ad spending, expanding its spend by 30.2 percent. Rival discounter Aldi accounted for 18.1 percent, making it the third-largest spender on advertising during the period. Dunnes Stores cut its ad spending 14.7 percent from the fourth quarter of 2014.
