April 1, 2015: 12:00 AM EST
Discount retailer Lidl plans to open more than 60 new stores in Ireland and Northern Ireland in 2015. Considered to be the largest expansion plans of any of the region's largest supermarket chains, the move includes the appointment of CBRE's Dublin and Belfast offices to search for possible sites for the planned retail stores. Criteria for site selection include at least 2 acres in size although 1 acre will be considered for high-density urban areas. Also, the company said it prefers freehold properties to suit stores ranging in size from 1,800 sq m to 2,400 sq m.
