Lidl Announces Modernization, Expansion Plans For Czech Republic Operations

Germany-based discount retailer Lidl plans to invest 9 billion crowns in its operations in the Czech Republic. According to the company, the planned investments would include modernization of existing stores and building and improving distribution centers. As part of the three-year modernization initiative, the company is expected to create 1,500 new jobs. Also, the company plans to open its first new concept store in Beroun, to be followed by many other similar stores, which feature about 1,400 square meters of retail space, bigger parking lots, a pastry shop, and bigger fresh-food area.
