Lidl And Kaufland Report Strong Sales Gains In Romania In 2015

Retailers Lidl and Kaufland reported strong sales and revenue growth in Romania in 2015. Discount retailer Lidl reported revenue grew 11 percent to €1 billion, while sister company Kaufland posted a 16-percent jump to €2 billion. Growth was driven by strong like-for-like sales growth and new store openings, with Kaufland opening five stores to reach 107 stores. Lidl opened about 10 stores to close the year with more than 190 locations.
