JC Penney And Macy's Say To Close Stores, Cut Thousands Of Jobs

Leading US department store chains JC Penney and Macy's announced plans to shut down stores and lay off thousands of employees in 2015. JC Penney said it plans to close about 40 of its 1,060 stores by April 4, 2015, and dismiss about 2,250 workers. For its part, Macy's announced it would close 14 of its 790 stores in the next few months, leaving more than 1,300 employees without a job.
