Carrefour Resumes Retail Operations In Algeria

December 1, 2014: 12:00 AM EST
French retailer Carrefour plans to open its first hypermarket in Algeria in March 2015. Valued at €10 million, the planned Alger hypermarket will be the first of many and marks the company's return to the country. Carrefour first opened for business in the middle of 2000s when it partnered with local firm Arcofina. When its partner opened its own retail store, Ardis, in 2009, Carrefour ended its local operations.
