French retailer Carrefour has agreed to let go of three supermarkets in Braila, Romania, to secure the approval of the country's Competition Council for its acquisition of the Billa supermarket chain. According to the agency, the retailer would become dominant in the region's retail market following the planned merger. In 2015, Carrefour agreed to acquire the 86 Billa supermarkets from German company Rewe in a deal worth between €95 million to €100 million.
