Campaign Against Amazon Gathering Strength In UK, Amazon Anonymous Claims

December 1, 2014: 12:00 AM EST
Amazon Anonymous is predicting that online retailer Amazon.com will lose more than ₤2.5 million in sales during the coming holiday season. Campaigning for fair pay for Amazon workers, the group claimed at least 11,463 UK consumers had pledged to boycott the online retailer and instead spend the pledged amount by shopping at other retailers from December 1 to 25, 2014. Acknowledging that it would be hard for some consumers to abruptly stop buying from Amazon, the group partnered with Ethical Consumer magazine to help shoppers find alternative retailers, including independent booksellers.
