Asda Tries Location-Based Mobile Ads, In-Store Beacons To Help Drive Store Traffic

December 3, 2014: 12:00 AM EST
Asda ran a pilot test of location-based mobile advertising to help drive shopper traffic into the retailer's stores. Data from technology provider xAd showed store visits increased more than 60 percent, driven by exposure to the mobile advertising campaign. Asda is also testing in-store beacons, which detect nearby smartphones and other mobile devices and sends push notifications to device owners.
