Asda Follows Parent Walmart’s Lead In Store Remodeling

February 6, 2015: 12:00 AM EST
Walmart’s U.K. supermarket subsidiary Asda said it is extending its “fit for the future” superstore trial to eight more stores as part of a five-year strategy to “redefine value grocery retailing”. The remodeling will accommodate “changing shopper habits” that include online buying and offline purchase pick-up. Remodeled stores will include a designated fast lane, for example, and a “Drive-Thru Click and Collect” zone. In addition, the remodeled Asda stores will add or expand fashion and homewares space, mother and baby departments, and health, beauty and wellness departments to include opticians and pharmacies.
