Aldi Reports Strong Sales Growth In Australia, Expands Market Share In 2014

Aldi Australia reported sales grew 13 percent to AU$6 billion in 2014, compared with AU$5.3 billion in 2013. Opening 25 new stores in 2014, Aldi's growth rate during the year was almost three times that of its largest competitors. Woolworth's sales grew 4.9 percent, while Coles reported sales rose 4.6 percent. With its store count currently at 366 branches, Aldi now accounts for 11 percent of the retail market in the region. Aldi Australia CEO Tom Daunt said his company is likely to expand its market share to 15 percent soon.
